Suicide Bomber Said To Be Slain Ingush Activist’s Brother-In-Law
On December 17, a suicide bomber blew himself up at a police checkpoint in Russia’s Ingushetia republic, killing himself and injuring 23 police officers. After the blast RFE/RL’s Russian service reported that suice bomber is Maksharip Aushev’s brother in law.
Ingushetian officials claims the suicide bomber who attacked a police checkpoint on December 17 was the brother-in-law of slain rights activist Maksharip Aushev.
Twentythree people were severely injured in the explosion outside the Ingushetian city of Nazran outside the capital, Magas, that police said was caused by a car driven by Batyr Dzhaniev, the brother of Aushev’s widow, Fatima Dzhanieva.
Ingushetian officials said Dzhaniev was likely seeking revenge against the police for an explosion on December 16 that killed his mother and a brother and severely injured Fatima Dzhanieva and his another brother.
