We Remember Khamzat Gelayev!

Today is the anniversary of one of the most painful days in our history. Seven years ago today, Khamzat Gelayev, a legendary name in our independence struggle, died as a hero and became a Shaheed, inshaAllah!

On February 28, 2004, the Brigadier General of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria Armed Forces, Khamzat Gelayev, died in an uneven battle with Russian armed forces somewhere close to the Georgian border. According to a famous motto, a wolf always dies soundless and looks into the eyes of his enemy when he dies. Khamzat Gelayev stayed loyal to his struggle until his last breath, and resisted against the Russian invaders up until his final moments.

Khamzat Gelayev, the owner of the “Black Angel” radio call name, was also the first commander awarded with the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria’s highest medal, “Kioman Syi” (Honor of the Nation). He is always remembered by people for his honesty, his ingenuity, his goodwill, his honor and of course, his bravery.

As it was said by the Russian journalist, Pavel Luzakov, “Russian invaders were afraid of Khamzat when he was alive. They feared him as much as they hated him. This fear and hatred came from the fact that he fought better than Russian conscripts with shoulder loops, even though he had no military education”. It was because of such feelings that they buried him in an unmarked grave to be forgotten. However, neither his name nor the efforts he made for his people have been erased from the memory of the Chechen nation, and they will never be erased!

From here, through our website, once again, we demand that the Russian Federation hand the honorable son of the Chechen nation, Khamzat Gelayev'”s corpse to his family to be placed in the ground, according to the Muslim and Chechen traditions.

We pray for Khamzat Gelayev and offer our condolences once again to the Chechen People and his family.

Let Allah accept your gazavat Khamzat!
Dala g1azot k1obal doyla tsunan Khamzat!
