Alleged Former Fighter Abducted in Argun
Local sources have reported that a senior citizen was abducted in the Russian occupied Chechen Republic of Ichkeria.
According to the information, on July 5, soldiers from the Russian Interior Ministry’s Shali unit organized a punishment operation in the district of Shali. As a result, a male resident, born in 1954, was abducted from his house in the town of Argun. The hostage is accused of being a former member of the Chechen National Liberation Movement, which he fought for against Russian invaders between 1999 and 2000, under the command of the fourth Chechen President Abdul Khalim Sadulayev, head of the Argun Jamaat during this period; as well as providing money to the movement in February 2002.
The hostage’s fate and whereabouts are unknown at the moment.
