Blogger that Reported on Events in Ingushetia Arrested in Moscow

On May 4,  Alauddin (Aleksei) Dudko, a blogger who runs the ingushetiya-ru.livejournal.com, was arrested in Moscow.

Aleksei Dudko is an ethnic Russian. He converted to Islam religion, changed his name as Alauddin and married with an Ingush woman. His blog, http://ingushetiya-ru.livejournal.com, was mainly focusing on the events in Ingushetia, but also general events in Russia attracted his attention. Until the murder of Magomed Yevloev, his blog was a mirror of dissident website Ingushetia.ru. He was also providing information and technical assistance. After the murder of Yevloev and, he start to publish his own views via his blog.

His wife Fatima told that “some people in civilians clothes and identifed themselves as FSB came to our apartment. They did a search in the house and said that we have found an explosive”. According to Fatima, there were no explosives, it is just about Alauddin’s media coverage at his web blog.

Alauddin was very critical of the Russian authorities. Russian general prosecutor had accused this blog of inciting ethnic hatred prior to the arrest, but probably did not know the real person behind it until lately.  However, the authorities reportedly accused him of explosives’ possession and not of inciting hatred.

So the case of Alauddin Dudko’s arrest seems to acquire quite a political angle because of almost obvious law twisting by the Russian authorities. The allegation of his relatives and friends that no lawyers or relatives are allowed to meet with the suspect.

As a note, he kept his real name in strict secret, but according to some sources, his arrest came days after his name somehow surfaced in the internet.
