Khizir Aldamov: “Georgia must Recognize the Chechen Genocide!”

Khizir Aldamov, the head of the Chechen diaspora in Georgia, has appealed to the Georgian government to act as a bridge between the Chechen people and the international community and assist them in informing the international community about the real situation in the North Caucasus.

According to an article on the “Gruzya Online” website, Khizir Aldamov stated that the West needs to know the real situation in the Caucasus and Russia’s assessments should not be the only source of information. “Moscow claims that the situation in North Caucasus is stable. In contrast to these claims, the West must be objectively informed. The official representatives of Tbilisi in all democratic states should express real information about the events in Chechnya. Today, Georgia is a country whose words are given adequate attention by the West. However, like Chechnya, a part of Georgia is occupied by Russia and the resistance must be unified against the common enemy,” said Aldamov.

The Chechen diaspora in Georgia may appeal in writing to the government of Georgia on the lobbying request of the Chechen issue. Furthermore, Khizir Aldamov indicates that Georgia must think about the recognition of genocide against the Chechen people along with the recognition of the genocide of the Circassian people.

However, Khizir Aldamov commented on the decision of the Georgian government to establish a visa-free regime for residents of the North Caucasus and described it as very important for the unity of Caucasian people.

Khizir Aldamov estimates that the recent attack on Kadyrov’s parliament building in Chechnya can be considered a new stage in the partisan movement. Also, he thinks that Kadyrov’s accusations against Georgia are nonsense.
