Russian Embassy Worker Confesses to the Chechen Reality

A Circassian united organization, May21 has started a new campaign in which they are asking “Where is Circassia?”. During their recorded calls to the Russian Embassy in the United States, one of the embassy employees confirms that Chechnya is a dangerous place.

Even with the huge media campaigns and billions of dollars spent, the reality inside of the Russian occupied Chechen Republic of Ichkeria cannot be hidden. Frequently, human rights defenders expose the ongoing war in Chechen territory. However, this time, an employee of the Russian Embassy in the United States confirms these realities during a phone conversation as warning to the speaker on the telephone.

Here is the text of the telephone conversation:

Embassy Worker: You have reached the Consulate General of the Russian Federation.
Speaker: Who is speaking?
Embassy Worker: Mmm… This is the Russian Embassy.
Speaker: Oh very good. Okay, I have a few questions that I hope you can answer for me.
…
Embassy Worker: How do you spell it?
Speaker: Circassia. It is C-I-R-C-A-S-S-I-A.
Embassy Worker: Just a moment.
…
Embassy Worker: Where is it located?
Speaker: I think its capital is Sochi.
Embassy Worker: Excuse me?
Speaker: I think its capital is Sochi.
Embassy Worker: Sochi?
Speaker: Yes.
…
Speaker: Are you looking it up?
Embassy worker: Yes, just a moment.
…
Speaker: Do I need a Russian visa to visit Circassia or Sochi?
Embassy worker: Yeah
Speaker: Or can I get a Circassian visa to visit this place?
Embassy worker: Just a moment.
Speaker: Thank you. I really appreciate your work.
…
Speaker: I really need this information, because I would like to go May 21.
Embassy worker: Please hold on.
Speaker: Thank you.
…
Embassy worker: Hello?
Speaker: Yes.
Embassy Worker: Uh, yes you need a Russian visa to go to Circassia.
…
Speaker: Can you tell me once again where is Circassia?
Embassy worker: Uh, it is near the Caucasus Mountains.
Speaker: Near the Caucasus Mountains?
Embassy worker: Yes
Speaker: So, Circassia does exist right?
Embassy worker: Yeah, but you know that Chechnya is near there.
Speaker: What do you mean by that?
Embassy worker: Um, if I were you, I would be afraid. It is not a good idea.
Speaker: You are saying it is not a good idea to visit Circassia?
Embassy worker: Um, yes…
